article The number of job seekers in Canada is on the rise, with a record 10.5 million people applying for jobs last year, according to the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB).
“It’s a good sign, but we’re not going to be able to fill every job,” said CFIB president Dan Kelly.
“We are not going be able just to fill the jobs, but to make sure that people have a job and can get the skills that they need to get back to a more normal life.”
Kelly said the number of applications is up, but it’s not nearly as high as the year before.
“In 2015, we saw an increase in applications, but this year it’s more than double,” he said.
“It is a big challenge for employers, and employers are working hard to keep up with the demand for their staff.
It is a very challenging environment and it will continue to be challenging.”
For some employers, getting an interview can be tough, but if they can convince you they are qualified, they can get you the job.
There are many different types of jobs, including some that require a certain level of experience, or require a lot of work, such as sales, marketing, IT or computer systems support, according the CFIB.
“You can get into the jobs that are more of an entry-level position, or you can get to a higher level, and that is what we are seeing,” said Kelly.
He said it is also not uncommon for employers to ask candidates to give their social media credentials to show they are on LinkedIn.
The CFIB also said that in the past, employers have used job postings to gauge job applicants’ interest in applying for their position.
“Employers may have looked at whether someone had a particular degree or experience and what their social profile was, and the people that had that profile could then be more likely to apply,” said John Linn, director of research at the CFMB.
“Nowadays, you can look at your profile, and you can see if you have that particular profile.
So it’s very much a different approach.”
Some people may have been looking at a job, but they were not looking for it in terms of a job description.
There was some social engineering going on.
“Kelly says the CFBIB is urging employers to be vigilant, and to do a lot more homework.”
As a business, if you can’t get an interview, you are going to look for a better alternative.
You need to be very cautious and make sure you know what you are talking about, and it is important that you are not asking people to give you their social profiles,” he added.
There have been many changes in the workplace in recent years, such the introduction of new standards and training.
Kelly says it’s also important to stay flexible, and have a variety of different options.”
